DASHCAM HARDWIRE INSTALLATION
DASHCAM HARDWIRE INSTALLATION
Hardwiring a dashcam provides a clean, permanent power solution that allows the camera to operate seamlessly while driving and, with parking mode enabled, even when the vehicle is off. This installation involves connecting the dashcam directly to the vehicle’s fuse box using a hardwire kit. The process begins with identifying an appropriate switched fuse (for ignition power) and a constant fuse (if parking mode is desired), then grounding the system to a metal point on the chassis.
Cables are carefully routed behind panels and trim, often along the headliner and A-pillar, to keep wiring hidden and preserve the interior’s factory appearance. A fuse tap is used to ensure a safe and reliable connection without altering existing circuits. Once installed, the dashcam will power on with the ignition or remain active as configured, providing discreet, uninterrupted recording and protection.
